Shower Glass Treatments

If you love the beauty of glass shower doors, but not necessarily the amount of maintenance they need, then shower glass treatments are the perfect solution.

Shower glass treatments do a few different things to help you keep your shower doors in great condition. Treated shower doors:

  • Are easier to clean
  • Repel water
  • Prevent stains and etching
  • Require little maintenance

Untreated shower glass is actually really porous, with small, invisible cavities in the glass surface. These are the perfect hideouts for germs, soap scum, hard water minerals, and other grime. This can make it hard to keep your shower glass clean and can even make the glass vulnerable to stains and etching from the minerals in our water.

Shower glass treatments help solve this problem by smoothing out the glass and acting as a barrier that shields your glass from these issues. The result? You have cleaner, clearer shower glass with less work.

Now, there are several different types of shower door treatments. We offer treatments for shower doors that happen during or after the glass manufacturing process for long-lasting, low maintenance protection. Two types of treatments we offer are ShowerGuard® and EasyClean 10. These are super durable treatments that don’t require any special maintenance or reapplications to help keep your shower glass protected.

There are types of shower glass treatments that you can apply yourself after installation. However, the problem with these is that they do rub off over time, which means you’re stuck with the mess and hassle of reapplying them frequently to help keep your glass in good condition. With our treatments, you never really need to think about them and have peace of mind that they’re always there.

Cleaning vs. Treatment of Shower Glass

There’s a difference between cleaning your shower doors and shower door treatments. It’s a common misconception that treatment of shower glass makes your shower doors self-cleaning. However, there’s no such thing as a self-cleaning shower door! At least not yet.

Shower glass treatments do make it easier to clean your shower doors, though. Because they provide a smooth, even surface, less grime sticks to the glass and they’re much easier to clean up. You can simply give them a quick wipe down with a microfiber towel or use a squeegee to remove extra water after you shower and clean them with a cleaning solution about once a week.

With shower glass treatments, there’s no need for hard scrubbing or harsh chemicals. Instead, you can clean most treated shower doors with a simple solution of water and vinegar. So, shower door treatments can help save you a lot of time and energy while cleaning, while also helping prevent stains and etching.
